We believe the current major auction players have made it impossible for sellers of low-value collectable items - scratch that, sellers of ANY collectible item - to operate. While advertising that listings are free for private sellers, we believe they can afford to do this by recouping their costs from business sellers with exhorbitamt fees. This, after encouraging many private sellers to upgrade to business with the temptation of more free listings per month.
Insect traders have been particularly badly hit. We think things should be like this:
- List any applicable item for free
- List as many items as you want
- Categories that are sensible for the insect business
- List livestock without fear of removal for listing 'pets'
- List books and other insect-related items
- Suggest improvements or categories and actually have a human listen and respond
Now, we realise there is a chicken and eggs situation for a new site. You wont get the sellers, because there are no buyers. Likewise, you wont get the buyers because there is nothing to buy. You have to get the sellers on board and to do that you have to make it risk free. Therefore, until the community is established and thriving there will be no fees whatsoever.
